Self Drive Scenic Tour

Coming down from the High Atlas Mountains, it is a shock to suddenly encounter the semi-arid mountains and the wonderful sceneries that surround every vista. In springtime you will be enthralled by the absolute majesty of the surrounding snow-topped mountains and serrated cliffs.
Driving from Marrakech to Ouarzazate can take seven or more hours if you take a bus. Plenty of roadside stands offer lunchtime specialties of mint tea and kefta sandwiches, which is Moroccan meat cooked over charcoal. If however, you have a private or a rented transport, you can make the drive in about five hours. But be careful and take your time as you will reach heights of well over 7,000 feet (2,200 meters) as you climb over the Tizi N'Tichka pass. Passes over the mountains will be closed in winter.
